This rule is authorized by Sections 63-46a-3, 64-13-10, and 64-13-17. Sections 64-13-10 and 64-13-17 require the Department to make rules establishing the guidelines for visitors regarding prohibited items and searches, as a condition of visitation.

This rule should be continued because it has proven effective in providing the guidelines for visiting in a manner that provides safety and security for the staff, inmates, and facilities.
