This rule is authorized by Section 53-6-105 which gives the power to the Director of Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) to promulgate standards for the certification of peace officer training academies.

There have been no written comments in favor or opposing this rule.

This rule outlines the proper procedure for applicants to apply to any basic training academy in the state. The applications need to be submitted to POST for proper screening and approval. Therefore, this rule should be continued.
